Mountain Top Acrylic 18x24 $1500 framed

Although many of my paintings are still in keeping with my more "traditional" style, I have been experimenting with new ideas, and the landscapes are getting slightly abstracted. I have posted a couple of these "departures" already. I have a new sense of freedom around me- it is an internal feeling that is being expressed outwardly and through my paintings. I like the looseness. Objects are just suggested. Any tool might replace the paint brush to create an effect. There is texture to play with. Color is key. I like this new sense of freedom!

I know I said the the next several posts were to be Nantucket paintings for my upcoming show, but I decided to sneak this one in. I painted it last month and just got around to photographing it. This particular one is also a departure in that it is done in acrylic when I usually work in oil. I do prefer oil, but I liked being able to work quickly without waiting for layers of thick texture to dry. I like the movement in this one. It is atop one of the smaller mountains of New Hampshire.

Cortlands and Macs 4x7.5 oil $275 framed sold

Despite the pending winter, Fall is a glorious time. Crisp Cool mornings, amazing color, pumpkins, and Apples. Apples! I like to paint them and I like to eat them! This painting came to mind when I found the apple with the leaf still attached at a farmer's market in New Hampshire. The size and shape came when I found the perfect frame in a Gallery in Portsmith, NH.

Evening Grass Oil on linen $45
I was playing with color here, and continuing with the abstracted landscape theme. I am loving it! I like that it is based on nature- the picture takes me somewhere- but it is open to interpretation.

This was painted toward the end of the day. We were driving on the Kancamagus highway in New Hampshire, which one of the most gorgeous rides. We pulled over and I started this painting of the Swift River. I finished it the studio.

Bosc Pear Brandy Oil 8x10 $495

My friend Bonnie gave me this jar. I love ceramic and the colors are great. It was originally filled with olive oil. I imagine it could easily hold some pear brandy.
