A painting always invokes a feeling. A scene might capture my attention because of its beauty, its sense of peace, its colors, its own feeling. An orchestrated still life might have been inspired by an appreciation of a moment. Regardless of the initial inspiration, the artist always puts a feeling into the painting, whether it is channeled or it is forced. I value technique and skill and I always strive to improve, but what I really wish to leave for viewers is a feeling, a good feeling. Maybe one might feel peace or love or joy It is my hope that something stirs inside and one has a sense of beyond.
The main body of my fine art work is landscape done in oil. I also paint still lifes and figures. Most landscapes are started in plein air and then finished in the studio. I was trained classically in realism but would say my style is more impressionistic. I have been playing with abstracting landscapes, always starting from what I see. I am enjoying the process and loving the results. My work hangs in many homes in the US and abroad.
One of my patrons once wrote to me: "You have a kind and gentle nature and it emanates in your paintings."
Winter Grasses. Oil 22x38 Sold This piece was inspired from within. It came to me as an idea and I had to paint it. It is a first in a series of paintings done with a little abstraction and texture. To me, It is very quite and peaceful.

One Tree Oil on canvas board 4x6 $95 Sold
This tree was framed by a magnificent blue sky on a beautiful but very windy day. We took a walk at Tupancy Links in Nantucket (mainly to be inland a little bit). I did a little study and took a lot of photos. I will be posting more paintings from this day.
